My Tips for a Rich, Dark Henna Stain

The joy of mehndi is in its deep, dark colour. Here are a few simple, traditional tips to help you get that gorgeous stain:

1. The Lemon-Sugar Seal: After your mehndi has dried, gently dab a mixture of lemon juice and sugar on it. This helps the henna stick and darkens the colour.
2. The Clove Smoke Ritual: Carefully run your hands over the smoke from a few heated cloves on a pan. The heat helps the dye penetrate deeper. Be very careful not to burn yourself.
3. Leave it On: The longer you keep the henna paste on your skin (ideally 6-8 hours or overnight), the darker the final stain will be.
