A: These are three distinct traditional printing styles from Rajasthan, each with a unique character:

Ajrakh Print — A centuries-old resist and natural dye technique from Sindh and Rajasthan. Known for deep geometric patterns in rich indigo, red, and black. The process involves multiple rounds of dyeing and washing, sometimes taking weeks. Ajrakh is considered one of India’s most complex textile traditions.

Dabu Print — A mud-resist printing technique where a special clay paste (dabu) is applied to the fabric before dyeing. The clay resists the dye, leaving beautiful undyed patterns. Dabu prints typically have a rustic, earthy feel with natural whites and creams alongside deep colours.

Indigo Print — Uses natural indigo extracted from the Indigofera plant to create that signature deep blue. Indigo-dyed fabrics are known for their rich colour that softens beautifully with each wash. The colour may slightly fade over time, which is a natural and desirable characteristic — not a defect.

Always wash in cold water (never hot — it fades natural dyes faster)
Hand wash separately for the first 2–3 washes
Use mild detergent or a gentle fabric wash — avoid harsh detergents or bleach
Do not soak for longer than 10–15 minutes
Dry in shade — avoid direct sunlight which can fade natural dyes over time
Iron on the reverse side on medium heat
For chanderi and modal silk pieces, dry cleaning is recommended

A: With natural dyes, some colour bleeding on the first wash is completely normal and expected — it is not a defect. This is actually a sign that your garment uses genuine natural dyes and not chemical alternatives. Here is what to do:
Wash separately in cold water for the first 2–3 washes
Add 2 tablespoons of white vinegar or a pinch of salt to the wash water — this helps set natural dyes
After the first few washes, colours stabilise beautifully
Indigo-dyed pieces in particular will soften and lighten slightly over time — this is a natural characteristic that many customers love

A: Our garments are made from pre-washed 60/60 premium cotton specifically to minimise shrinkage. However, to be safe, always wash in cold water and avoid machine drying. Air dry flat or on a hanger. If you follow the care instructions, shrinkage should be minimal and your garment should retain its shape wash after wash.
