Printed Palazzo Pants — Hand Block Printed in Bagru, Jaipur
Every pair of printed palazzo pants in this collection is block printed by hand in Bagru, Rajasthan. The Chhipa community has practised natural dye block printing here for over 450 years. A Chhipa artisan presses a hand-carved wooden block into natural dye paste and stamps it onto pure cotton, motif by motif, until the palazzo carries a full print across its wide-leg fall. No digital machine. No factory run. Every print is genuinely handmade.
We dye with plants and minerals: madder root for terracotta reds and burgundy tones, indigo plant for deep blues and navy, harda seed for warm yellows and sage greens, and iron solution for blacks and greys. These natural dyes contain no synthetic azo compounds — so they sit against your skin all day without irritation, and they age gracefully rather than fading flat.
All 17 styles in this collection include deep side pockets. This is not an afterthought — it is a practical feature built into every palazzo we make. The elastic waistband gives a comfortable, adjustable fit across sizes. And the wide-leg cut moves freely with you, whether you are sitting through a full office day or dancing through a Navratri evening.
What’s in This Collection
17 block printed palazzo pants across different print styles, colour palettes, and silhouette cuts. Here is how to read the range:
Floral & Botanical Block Print Palazzos
Our floral block print palazzos carry the classic Bagru vocabulary — trailing botanical motifs, small repeat florals, leaf trails — in natural dye colours on pure cotton. These are the most versatile prints in the collection. They work across casual wear, office wear, festive dressing, and travel without feeling out of place in any context. Our abstract blue floral, baby pink small motif, coffee brown floral, flax green floral, and harda yellow floral styles all sit in this category.
Geometric & Striped Block Print Palazzos
Our geometric and striped block print palazzos carry bolder, more graphic patterns — diamond grids, zigzag trails, angular stripes, dotted grounds. These are the more striking options in the collection. They pair most naturally with plain solid tops — a plain white cotton shirt, a simple cream kurti, or a solid-colour block printed top. Our black geometric, dark blue zigzag, dark blue grey motif, burgundy striped, navy blue striped, and dark ocean blue dotted styles fall here. These prints elongate the leg particularly well because the vertical or diagonal geometry draws the eye downward along the full palazzo length.
Traditional & Ethnic Motif Palazzos
Our traditional motif palazzos carry the characteristic dense Bagru print vocabulary — interlocking geometric borders, traditional resist-print grounds, heritage floral and paisleys in the authentic madder-indigo-natural cream palette. These are the richest prints in the collection. They carry a festive register without embellishment and work particularly well for Navratri, Diwali, family functions, and cultural occasions. Our madder red traditional, indigo grey traditional, royal blue traditional, and burgundy ethnic styles sit in this category.
Boho & High Waisted Styles
Several palazzos in this collection feature specific silhouette details worth noting. Our white bohemian and white boho style palazzos carry lighter, open-ground prints with a relaxed, free-spirited aesthetic — perfect for summer days, beach destinations, and casual weekends. Our dark ocean blue high waisted palazzo sits higher at the waist than the standard elastic-waist cut, creating a more defined proportion and a longer visual leg line. This style works particularly well for petite frames and anyone who wants to create the appearance of height.
Which Palazzo for Which Occasion
Everyday & Casual Wear
Our floral and botanical palazzos are the everyday workhorses of this collection. Pure cotton stays cool through full days in warm weather, and the wide-leg cut moves freely without clinging or restricting. For casual days, pair a floral palazzo with a simple block printed cotton shirt worn half-open, or with a plain fitted top from your existing wardrobe. The block print does the visual work — so the top can stay simple.
Office & Workwear
A geometric or striped block print palazzo with a straight-cut silhouette is a strong office choice. Tuck in a plain button-down shirt or a structured printed cotton top for a composed, professional look. The wide-leg cut reads as intentional rather than casual in an office setting — and pure cotton stays comfortable through air-conditioned environments and warm commutes alike. Navy blue striped, black geometric, and dark blue grey motif are the most office-appropriate prints in the collection.
Festive & Ethnic Occasions
Our traditional motif and ethnic print palazzos carry the festive register naturally. Pair a madder red or royal blue palazzo with a block printed kurti in a complementary colour, add a block printed dupatta across one shoulder, and the look is complete. Since the natural dye palette is consistent across SA Fab’s collection, palazzo pants in madder red pair naturally with kurtis in indigo or natural cream without any colour clash.
Summer & Travel
Pure cotton palazzos are the right choice for summer travel. They pack light, do not hold deep wrinkles, and stay comfortable through long transit days in heat and humidity. Our white bohemian and harda yellow styles are particularly good for beach destinations and hill station travel — the lighter ground colours stay cooler in direct sun. Moreover, because natural dyes do not run or transfer when the fabric gets warm and damp, these palazzos handle humid travel conditions without colour damage.
How to Take Your Palazzo from Day to Evening
This is the content gap competitors miss — and it is genuinely useful. The same printed palazzo can read completely differently across different times of day, with small changes:
Daytime: Keep It Relaxed
In the morning, pair your palazzo with a plain fitted cotton top or a block printed cotton shirt worn untucked. Flat kolhapuri sandals or simple flats keep the look grounded. The block print carries the outfit on its own — so you do not need to add much.
Evening: Shift the Register with Three Changes
Swap the flat sandals for heeled juttis or strappy sandals — the heel elongates the palazzo’s wide-leg fall and shifts the silhouette’s weight upward. Tuck your top in to define the waist. Add a simple statement earring — a jhumki or a long drop in oxidised silver. Three changes, same palazzo, completely different occasion register. This is how a ₹171 cotton palazzo earns its wear-cost across multiple occasions.
For Festive Evenings: Add a Layer
Drape a block printed dupatta across one shoulder or add a block printed jacket over your top for a more festive, layered look. The Bagru print palette coordinates naturally across pieces — so a dupatta or jacket in a complementary print adds depth without clashing.
Why a Handblock Printed Cotton Palazzo Is Different
Most printed palazzo pants sold online use digital or screen prints on viscose, rayon, or polyester-cotton blends. The prints are uniform and the fabric drapes differently from natural cotton — often clinging in heat or feeling synthetic against the skin over long days. Our palazzos are the opposite of that on every count.
We make every palazzo from pure cotton. Pure cotton breathes, wicks moisture, and gets softer with every wash. Combined with natural dyes that contain no synthetic coating on the fabric surface, our palazzos are genuinely comfortable against the skin across full-day wear. The wide-leg cut also means there is no friction against the legs as you move — the fabric falls freely rather than clinging.
The printing happens in Bagru, at the hands of Chhipa community artisans who have inherited this craft across generations. We work directly with these artisans — no wholesaler, no factory intermediary. Fair wages go directly to the craftspeople. As a result, each palazzo in this collection carries a real, verifiable origin: a specific village, a specific community, a 450-year tradition behind every motif.

How to Care for Your Block Printed Cotton Palazzo
- First wash separately in cold water. Some natural dye release is normal in the first 2–3 washes. This is excess dye clearing — not fading. Always wash separately first.
- Hand wash or gentle cold machine cycle. Avoid hot water — it weakens natural dye bonds. After the first few washes, a cold gentle cycle works fine.
- Mild detergent only. Harsh detergents and bleach strip natural dyes faster. A gentle handwash liquid is enough.
- Dry in shade. Direct sunlight degrades natural dye molecules over time. Shade-drying preserves the depth of madder reds, indigo blues, and harda yellows.
- Iron on medium heat, on the reverse. Cotton irons easily. Ironing on the printed side can flatten the print texture — so always reverse-iron.
- Do not wring. Wide-leg cotton can distort at the waistband if wrung roughly. Gently press excess water out and hang or lay flat to dry.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do these palazzo pants have pockets?
Yes — all 17 palazzos in this collection include deep functional side pockets. This is not a feature that varies by style — every palazzo we sell has pockets built in. The pockets sit at a natural hand-drop height on both sides and are deep enough to hold a phone comfortably. This is a practical detail we consider non-negotiable in everyday bottom wear.
What tops pair best with printed palazzo pants?
For a balanced silhouette, a fitted or semi-fitted top works best with the wide-leg palazzo cut. A short or mid-length block printed kurti tucked at the waist is the most natural pairing for an ethnic look. A plain fitted cotton top or a block printed cotton shirt worn half-tucked works well for casual and office settings. Avoid oversized tops with a standard palazzo cut — the volume from both pieces together creates a silhouette that loses shape. The exception is the high waisted palazzo, which pairs well with a cropped top since the high rise defines the waist clearly.
Are these palazzos suitable for festive and ethnic occasions?
Yes — particularly the traditional motif and ethnic print styles. Our madder red traditional, indigo grey traditional, royal blue traditional, and burgundy ethnic palazzos carry a festive register on their own through the depth of the natural dye colours and the density of the block print motifs. Pair any of these with a block printed kurti and a dupatta for a complete ethnic look that requires no embellishment. For more casual festive occasions — Navratri, Diwali, family functions — the floral styles also work well since the block print is already considered and intentional.
How should I care for hand block printed cotton palazzos?
Cold wash separately for the first 2–3 washes — some natural dye release is normal. Use a mild detergent, never bleach. Dry in shade to protect the colour depth. Iron on medium heat on the reverse side. With this care, natural dye colours deepen slightly over time rather than fading flat — so your palazzo can look better after two years than it did on the first day.
Which palazzo style works best for petite frames?
Our high waisted palazzo — the dark ocean blue dotted style — works best for petite frames because the higher waistline visually extends the leg line. Beyond that, vertical prints like our navy blue striped and dark blue zigzag styles also elongate the silhouette by drawing the eye downward along the full palazzo length. Avoid wide all-over prints with very large motif scales on petite frames — they can visually shorten the leg. Smaller repeat florals and geometric grids in our collection work better.
